Clone Disk option not available, Windows 10, Dell and HP Laptop

Thread needs solution

Hello.

I am attempting to replace a HDD with a SSD.

The computer is a DELL Latitude E7240 with a 500GB HDD. I purchased a 1TB SSD.

When I boot using the acronis media, i see all hard drives. The new 1TB SSD is internally installed while the source disk is connected to a NextStar 3.0 USB Enclosure via USB3.

When I right click the disk in Disk Management, i do not see Clone Disk. If i right click the 8GB Kingston USB Boot media i created for Acrons, I do see the Clone Disk option.

This is a GPT to GPT clone. It appears that even though GPT is supported, I can only clone MBR disks and not GPT disks.

We have since tried this on other laptop systems and are experiencing the same results with GPT VS MBR.

Is it possible to clone a GPT disk using the acronis boot media of Acronic Backup 11.7 Advanced edition?

Hello Michael,

Welcome to Acronis user forums! Acronis Disk Director Lite, which is the part of Acronis Backup 11.7 and performs cloning and other disk management operations, allows cloning of the basic MBR disks only. You may want to consider moving the data to a new SSD using backup\restore functionality.

Thank you,
