How do i update and risks invloved?

Thread needs solution

Hi guys,

I'm currently using Acronis Backup Advanced (version 11.5 update 4)
Acronis Backup Management Server (build 11.5.38774)

I acknowledge that my version is pretty outdated and wish to update it. But I heard from somewhere that the updating may cause all my current backup plans and backup files from my vaults to be erased.
I would like to find out from you guys if this is true?

Any kind souls who have updated their software even at least once please let me know if your update caused any trouble.. Please 

 

 

All I can add is that I upgraded from Acronis Backup 11.5 to 11.7 and didn't experience any issues, however I wasn't using Backup Advanced or any server components.

Yes, I updated my storage node about 4 times. Half of them went wrong - one time had issues reconnecting the previously disconnected vault - data loss -, the other time the error below struck and 14 month backup of 125 machines was lost.

  • [ABR-66849] Vault compacting may lead to data loss.

Update from 11.5 43956 to 11.7 44421 went smooth.

 

edit: I always used the setup wizard that comes with AcronisBackupAdvancedxxxxxx.exe

@Arkane78 Deeply appreciate your kind response on this! None of Acronis's FAQs stated what I needed to know although it is almost obvious that it shouldn't wipe any data, I felt i required some sort of confirmation before making this big step. :)

Thank you for your question.

You can safely update your product to the latest version, since Acronis Backup (Advanced) 11.7 is technically an update to Acronis Backup (Advanced) 11.5.

The latest version has several significant improvements, such as vastly enhanced deduplication, for example.

Updating the product will not delete or modify any of your current backup plans and backup files in the vaults. Installer will automatically update the necessary components. All configuration, such as backup tasks and plans, vaults, service credentials, will be kept.
