How to restore BIOS backup on UEFI machine
Hi ,
I am evaluating acronis for my organisation. I took windows 7 (bios base machine) backup (took system volume backup (boot) along with system reserved partition). I want to restore this backup on some other machine which is having UEFI firmware. Please let me if it is feasible through acronis
Thanks ,
VJ

Hi Victor Joe,
In brief:
1) Recover the entire system onto uninitialized disks. Or initialize the disks as GPT.
2) Use Linux-based bootable media.

Hi Elenal,
Thanks for your prompt response. I've gone through the above mentioned link. But I am not clear how it is being done ? I mean how the bcd entries will be set correctly.

Boot target machine in UEFI mode using linux-based bootable media and recover both volumes. Target disk will be initialized to GPT.
see http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#12540.h… for details.

Thanks Fedor. I explored the link provided by you. But Its not mentioning anything if there are some manual steps involved or not. Detailed steps (for our specific problem) would help us to decide better product among various competitors.

You will not have to edit the BCD entries, the Acronis software will take care about it. It's just a regular recovery process, with a few peculiarities that you already know. However (as with any migration to dissimilar hardware) you will need the Universal Restore functionality which is disabled in the trial product version. Step-by-step instructions on how to create Linux-based bootable media and perform the recovery can be found in the doc. If you have more definite questions, you are welcome.
