Jobs stuck - Cannot Stop

Thread needs solution

Have a couple of jobs that are stuck, i.e. have apparently been showing "Need interaction" in the Backup plans and tasks frame. Regular backup admin has been out for a medical LOA for a couple of months. What do I need to do to really kill these jobs? The cover a number of servers that as a result are not being backed up.

Thanks.

I would suggest looking into the following OPTIONS on your backup jobs (stop all jobs for now so you can edit them, scroll to the bottom of the edit screen and you can edit the job options):

- Error Handling, I would suggest you enable "do not show messages and dialogs while processing (silent mode)"... this will allows Acronis to make decisions for you (eg, if you have a backup running with a question pending and don't notice it for a few days you will not get any future backups until you respond to that question as the job is still technically 'running' and has not finished yet this will help avoid this issue)

- Task Failure Handing - I would suggest you enable this option... It will basically allow Acronis to automatically re-schedule a failed job (that might have been automatically cancelled/aborted from the option we set above)... It means if a job was having issues due to a saturated network/backup device or heavy server load from other processes or tasks, Acronis can re-try the backup again by the interval set... I believe the default is to re-try once after 1 hour which is generally fine for most.

See how those changes go, I'm sure it should help in getting reliable backups and remove some of the worries you have a the moment... Also please make sure you let the backup admin know about the changes on his return :-)
