Survey: How many people validate their backups?

Thread needs solution

I have been using Acronis Backup (& Recovery) for over 2 years and have been happy with the software. Since the beginning I validate the "last" backup. However, in all this time I have never had a backup fail validation. I have, however, had the validate task either fail or not start. So I'm wondering whether I should continue to run validation.

My system consists of 6 Windows system, no server, and a Netgear Network Attached Storage (NAS) device where the backups are stored. It runs on a Gigabit network. I configured the backups so that each system starts at a particular time at night (12 am, 1 am, etc.) so they don't saturate the network or the NAS.

How many of you validate your backups?

Hello Bruce,

we always recommend to validate backups from time to time and it is better to use bootable media for validation as it gives more reliable results.
This information may help you to choose you validation strategy.

Thank you.

Anna,

Thanks for the feedback. As it currently is not an issue, I will continue to validate my backups.

p.s. sorry for the tardy reply... couldn't login due to an apparent server issue...
