When a user connects to Exchange mailbox using Outlook for Mac 2011 - their inbox in no longer accessible for recovery

Thread needs solution

I'm using Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 (Build 11.5.32256) on an SBS 2011 Server (with Exchange 2010).

If a user uses Outlook 2011 for Mac, their inbox is no longer accessible in the Acronis Management Console Recovery actions. Attempting to expand the inbox displays an error:-
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Error
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cannot find the object's meta info.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Details:
Code: 10,223,619(0x009C0003)
LineInfo: 0x7E90832CFF02931E;

Module: arx_console_addon_vs_32256
Message: Cannot find the object's meta info.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

All other folders are accessible within the Recovery action.

The users access to all folders within Outlook for Mac (or the Windows version of Outlook for that matter) is unaffected. All functionality for the user seems fine.

Obviously not having the ability to recover items from their inbox is an issue. Has anyone seen this behaviour before. Any feedback/fixes/workarounds would be much appreciated.

Hi Craig,
thank you for your posting!
Please check if refreshing of the vaults information or/and validation the archive changes the situation.
Do I understand correctly that the problem is reproducible if you create a new mailbox, create a backup and then access it using Outlook 2011 client for Mac?
Thank you,

Thanks for your response Anna. I have not yet had time to create a test user & reproduce. I will attempt to do that in the next few days.

I can tell you that refreshing the vault information & running (successful) archive validation does not resolve the problem however. At this point I can only confirm that the problem appears to be confined to Oulook for Mac 2011 users. The other fairly common thing is that those users appear to have large numbers of Inbox sub-folders with saved messages within. Will report back when I have done further troubleshooting.

Ok, looking forward to updates from you! We need to localize the problem because I wasn't able to find any similar reports in our database. Also I would recommend you to update to the latest build: https://kb.acronis.com/content/1642

Ok, have had time to create a test user with which to test this scenario, but I cannot reproduce the problem with that user. So it appears at this stage that the Outlook 2011 for Mac factor may simply have been coincidental.

The next most obvious common factor between the affected user accounts is that they all have a large collection of user created folders nested within their Inbox's.

I will download & install the most recent update as you have suggested & re-test the issue. I may not be able to complete this for a week or so due to an absense, but will definitely report back here once complete. Thanks again for your cooperation Anna.

Thank you for your patience Anna. I have now had time to upgrade the installation to build 11.5.43994.

The affected user mailboxes are now accessible in a Restore task. The situation has been resolved. Thank you for your assistance

I'm glad that the problem was solved, Craig! Thank you for cooperation!
