Window 7 OS Corrupted - Can I Reload It Alone?

Thread needs solution

My Windows 7 PC blue screened and now Windows won't restart, repair itself or do a Windows system restore to an earlier date. I have an Acronis full back up image from two weeks ago. I would like to just restore the OS, but not all the applications and files in the image to avoid losing data added in the last two weeks. Is that possible?

Hello James,

thank you for your question and welcome to our forum!

You can restore your operating system only while recovering the corresponding partition, where the operation system resides. There is no way to exclude any installed applications or other data. After recovery you will have an exact copy of the backed up partition.

However, if you have multiple partitions saved in your backup, you can select for restore only system ones.

Thank you.
