Hello Sascha,

Generally you can upgrade the SQL 2008 Express Server to SQL 2016 Express, however the following issue might appear https://kb.acronis.com/content/47330

If the name of the database has changed, Acronis Management Server won't be able to connect.

As far as I know, it should be also possible to use instances of both SQL 2008 Express and SQL 2016 Express on the same server: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/sql-server/install/work-with-multi…

You can also create a backup of the SQL databases and import them if any issues: https://kb.acronis.com/content/46745 ;

However we usually recommend to re-install the component completely. Thus you can avoid a lot of potential issues.

Thanks for your answer.

Is it also possible to use SQL Server 2017Express ??

Hi,

The latest SQL Server 2017 Express is not listed as supported in the userguide which means we cannot guarantee it will work without issues.
