Email notification is incorrect

This has happened to me several times over the years and I have never gotten a resolution. The email says the job failed yet when I look at the logs the logs say it was successful.

There are no errors in the log. If there were it would explain why the email said failed. It is a simple backup, full with retention cleanup.
I am finding other things wrong. The catalog does not seem to be updating and as a result the retention rules do not work and the xml files are not being created. I first noticed the issue when I went in to the vault and tried to catalog it. It would not catalog. I finally fumbled with it enough I got it to catalog. I had to change to archive view and refresh. At that point I could re-catalog but every backup since then 1) does not create the xml file and 2) does not update the catalog and as a result retention rules don't work.
There are no errors in the log but there are also no "cataloging data" entries. I have a feeling the email is correct. Something is failing. My guess is the cataloging but the logs don't reflect any problems.

Just happened again to a completely different customer. The logs are clean. No errors yet the email said the job failed.

Finally figured it out. I run a pre-backup batch file. One small line in that batch file failed. The option to fail the job if the batch file failed was not checked. At that point the console says the job was successful. No errors in the logs but the email says it failed. Acronis obviously needs to fix this.

Could you specify the exact product version and build you are currently using?

Hi Ekaterina. It is the latest build of 11.7. This problem as been in existence forever. I think I first came across it in version 10. Just a strange combination. I wound up solving the issue by making the last line in my external bat file "Exit 0".
