Hyper-V backup to Nas and 2nd location questions

Thread needs solution

Hi,

We have a client that is running Acronis Hyper-V on his Hostserver to backup 4 virtualmachines and itself to a Netgear nas with smb share. The retention policy is 31 for some virtual machines and one only runs once a week with a maximum of 4 backup files. The Hostserver also runs one a week a full backup with a maximum of 4 files.
In the backup I configured that it should copy the latest backup file to a 2nd location, this is a 2TB attached usb-drive on the Hostserver. This usb-drive is being swapped everyday by the finalcial guy in the office and takes it home.

No the problem we have is that often there are more backup files on the usb-drive that there should be, I only want the latest backup out of the office.
Also when swapping the usb-drive Acronis has problems with cleanup older files because his XML file is different on the other usb-disk. The Acronis hungs with a message that the usb-drive is full, or that it is missing backup files.
Any ideas or solutions how to solve this?

Thanks in advance,

Steven

Hi

You can solve your problem via scripting.

Script should do the following:
1. export latest backup to new archive on USB drive
2. delete not needed archives on USB drive

In the attached script you can find example of exporting latest backup (script exports latest backups of all archives in the location).

Script should be run as post backup command. Post command can be specified in the backup options.
