Issue trying to make a backup

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

i recently integrate a vcenter, in the options of 'Hosts and Clusters' acronis discovered all the virtual machines

in the vcenter, but all the virtual machines are in grey and i cannot make a backup, so my boss buy a licence

for Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for VMware, this license work for vcenter? for esxi?

i attached the snaps, reading this kb it's need an agent, but when a try to add it, it give me a problem with credentials

https://kb.acronis.com/content/38100

but the credentiales are fine, i tried with the admin credentials for the vcenter and the root credentials for the ESXi host

and none function

there is some another info that i'm missing, there is other option to download the agent and implemented directly from the vcenter like an ISO?

I hope you can help, thanks for your time

Best Regards

Hi,

The error message shown on the 3rd screen shot refers to connection from Agent for VMware (appliance or Windows agent) to the vCenter using the credentials provided when installing this agent. If you run an appliance then you should open its console in vSphere Client and verify the vCenter/ESXi host connection address + credentials for connection (see attached screen shot). If you run Agent for Vmware (Windows) then you should connect to it from Acronis Backup management console directly (after connecting to Acronis Management Server-> go to "Machines with Agents" list->right click on machine where Agent for VMware is installed->Connect directly) and then check the Options->Machine Options->Agent for ESXi section to confirm how it's set up.

Note that the vCenter integration enabled on the 1st screen shot is unrelated to connections from the agents described above - this vCenter connection is established from Acronis Management Server side, which may work fine, while may fail from the actual agents side. This feature is not required for backup operations in general - you can safely disable the "vCenter Integration" and at the same time have one or multiple agents for VMware (appliances or Windows agents) connected to corresponding vCenter/ESXi hosts and backup all VMs.

Thank you.
