Application aware credential

Thread needs solution

We have installed Acronis B 12 and configured a backup plan that include all the vm.

We also set the application backup option for exchange, AD and SQL and we selected "use the credential for all the vm in the plan".

Now we would change the credentials or disable the option  for some vm, without create a new backup plan.

It is possible?

Thanks in advance

Hi Sove,

You cannot have different settings for all machines in one Backup Plan. When you disable Application Aware Backup for individual machines the wizard will ask if you want to apply changes to all machines (assigned to the plan) or create a new plan for the selected ones.

I didn't get managed to set different credentials once they are set before. Even a reboot of the Management Server keeps the old credential in cache, disabling and re-enabling the Application Aware Backup uses the cached credentials and doesn't ask for new credentials.

Acronis may have an explanation for this?

It is possible to change the credentials when you select the individual machine and go to Overview (right pane). In Detected Applications you can specify credentials, these are used when creating a new backup plan for this machine as default.

Ok, thanks.

But if I have a plan with all machine inside and I enable the application aware for AD and Exchange, Acronis gives me an error and requires to specify credential because there are some vm that don't have that application.

What can I do to resolve this error?

I have to create a new plan for vm compatible with application aware and another for the remaining?

Thanks

Yes, you are right.

Thus a backup plan cannot have separate settings for individual VMs you have to create a new plan for those having AD and Exchange.

Thanks!

Uhm, with AB 9 there weren't these problem.

In a single task you could enable the application aware option for a specific server.

Thanks again
