I could use some help to install it and recover
Hi all,
I downloaded the Acronis Backup 12 Trial, namely to try its "recovery" feature.
Having said that, I do not need anything else really, like the amazing and super complete "backup features" (at least not for now).
After I installed it, it brought me into my account page. There were 2 options:
1. Management Console in Acronis Cloud. & 2. Management Console in your Premises.
First I tried #2. It popedup a small window asking to provide a domain/username (I think), and my password. The password was sent to me via email, so that's good. What about the "domain"? Will it work if I just enter my email address?
Well, now that I am back home I tried using just my email address and the password that was emailed to me. But it was a no go.
Then I tried #1, here it opened another account type of page. But with slighly different choices on the left panel(Manage Accounts, devices, All devices, backups, Activities, Alerts, Settings). I chose to install a Windows machine. Then it poped up an installation window, on the left side it says:
"Welcome to Backup Agent for Windows Setup". On the center, under the Important notes title says:
"The following software is not compatible with the product that you are going to install: Acronis Backup.
Please remove this product completely or follow the upgrade procedure to transfer the existing backup plans to Acronis Backup 12."
Again, all I want is to try the data recovery feature. Is all this necessary?
Thanks,
DPC

Thank you for helping Andrey :)
I did uninstall the Backup Agent and now I am able to login to the Cloud console.
The problem now is that I don't see any access to a Data Recovery feature.
Strange, because when you Google "Acronis, how to do data recovery" it shows at the top "Data Recovery Software - Try Acronis Free for 30-Days - acronis.com", but then when you click on that, it brings you to the Acronis Backup 12 Trial page. This lead me to believe that this software would do "Data recovery".
Furthermore, the google results also show a page with instructions on how to "recover" files from a previous backup. So recoverying files is done "from a previous backup", not from erased files.
I hope you can tell me that aside of the above, Acronis can ALSO do data recovery without depending on a previous backup, and simply by digging into the underlying layers of data and unerasing data that was previously erased.
Thanks in advance,
DPC

Hi, you need the backup copy of your data to be able to recover (distinct files/folders or entire disks/volumes).
