All-in-one Appliance: "service_process failed"

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I installed the new All-in-one VMware Appliance build 9010.

Trying to backup different VMs of ESXi 6.5u1 to a NAS share.

 

Every job fails with these errors: 

 

TOL: Process 'service_process.exe' has failed.

 

The activity has failed due to a restart of the service.

 

What's wrong?

Hi,

I observe exactly the same behaviour on 6.5 u1 with All-in-One appliance, when I installed dedicated AMS (as VM) and deployed agent for VMWare appliance (also vm) it works fine.

Might be some bug in AIO appliance.

The All-in-One appliance runs Linux and the message about restarted .exe must be coming from Acronis on Windows. Please edit the backup plan, re-select the backup source: make sure to select from the virtual machines tree, and not from devices with agents list. Save the changes to the backup plan.

Uninstall Acronis from Windows virtual machines to remove any warnings/errors about service_process.exe and avoid confusion in backup source selection in the future.

I have not installed a Windows Agent.

The message about restarted agent is from Linux Appliance.

Your comment is unfortunatelly completly irrelevant, there was no Windows machine on my ESX, just AIO appliance and one other linux VM that I tried to backup agentless way - tbh even file backup of random folder of AIO appliance would fail with this error:

TOL: Process 'service_process.exe' has failed.

The activity has failed due to a restart of the service.

I will wait for new version of AIO appliance don't have time to troubleshoot something that should work out of the box, meanwhile it's all working fine with MGMT on seperate linux vm and agent appliance for vmware deployed.

100% concur with TP.

I also deployed a separate ESX Agent and that is working fine.

 

Ekaterina, sorry but I also currently don't have the time to argue with your support.

I think they should be able to easily reproduce the problem on a test system.
