Application aware backup

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I recently update acronis 12 to last aversion 12.5.

I have installed Acronis Management console and agent for Windows/Exchange/SQL in the same machine.

If I select detail of virtual machine and I specify credential for application aware, acronis doesn't find anything.

In Acronis 12 I had created a task for Exchange (with application aware enabled), but now if I go to restore from backup I can choose only "restore file/folder" or entire machine...

Could you suggest a way to resolve these issues?
I have to create a new full backup of the virtual machine? I have to create a new job to do it?

Hi,

If the backup plan with application protection enabled completed successfully then the option to recover Exchange items should appear when you browse the archive from Recovery tab. Note however that if the backup was performed in agent-less mode by Agent for VMware (Virtual Appliance), instead of using agents running inside the virtual machine, then for recoverying Exchange data you'll need to perform browsing of the backup using this agent (e.g. Agent for Exchange - see link describing this specific). To get there go to Backups->Locations and select the agent via "Machine to browse from" button:

But the agent for Exchange I have to install in Exchange server? Or I can install it where management console is located?

Hi,

The Agent for Exchange can be installed only into Exchange server machine. Note that for Exchange items recovery you can use Agent for VMware (Windows) installed alongside AMS machine (or anywhere else), e.g. there is no requirement to have Agent for Exchange - it's optional.
