Backup option [Machine Name] only with trailing domainname?
Hi there,
for our backupplans we use the predefined backup option [Machine Name] for the file name of the backups.
If I search for the the filename, I found the hostname of the client with trailing full domainname. Like "computername.company.co.at", but we need only the computername of our clients.
When backup the client with acrocmd, I use the Windows environment variable %computername% without any domainsufix, like --arc="%computername%-System-Vol1-M" and this works well.
Is there a way to do it the same way in the backup-options, are there any other predefined variable holding the computername without adding the domainname?

We have clarified the way it works with the development - if the machine is in the domain, the computer name will be automatically transformed into FQDN. Currently there are no workarounds except using the acrocmd. We've passed your request to the product management for consideration.

thanks for your response and sorry for my late answer. Last week our IT got a new Server for Acronis, so I can'nt used the Management Console.
Your're right, our Machines are in the domain and I see them with full computer name (including domain)
The Maschines register themselves during installation. For the installation we use a script and start the acronis.msi with some parameters (servername, tenant, and so on) but there is no parameter for using a short computername ...
In your second post, you wrote there is currently no work arround. It's not ideal, but now its clear for me and I can stop searching for a solution ;-)

You are welcome! Hopefully we'll see more flexible macros for backup naming in the next releases.
