backup for tape library

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I'm having an HPE MSL4048 tape library with LTO7 tape derives installed and I'm in need for a backup software to operate it, my questions are:

1- can i use Acronis Back up with the tape library ?

2- will it operate on Windwos server 2012 an 2016?

3- is it possible to operate the tape library under Acronis as an LTFS

4- im deviding the tape library 4 logical libraries to work on 4 different servers do i need 4 Acronis backup licenses for this?

thank you in advance

Hi,

Welcome to Acronis forums! I suggest that you remove your email-address from the public thread to avoid spam.

Regarding the questions:

1 - tapes are supported only in Acronis Backup 12.5 Advanced

2 - Windows Server 2012/2012 R2 – all editions,
Windows Server 2016 – all installation options, except for Nano Server

3 - LTFS is not supported

4 - Acronis Backup 12.5 is licensed per Agent installed on a protected device or a virtual host, so the number of libraries shouldn't play a role here.

Let me know, if you have any questions.

I'd suggest installing a free trial first, see Acronis Backup 12.5: how to start a trial version

then proceed with the instructions from Getting started with a tape device

see also Tape management

Should you have any questions, feel free to ask.
