Deduplication and V12 Backups

Thread needs solution

You cannot do a v12 backup to a storage node with deduplication enabled. Do v12 backups have some sort of other deduplication type mechanism built in or are v11 backups superior for saving space?

Hi,

The backup format version 12 has inline deduplication included, which means that the data from the same machine will be deduplicated inside the single archive. The Acronis Storage Node is capable for deduplicating the data across multiple archives and due to specifics of it, it can work only with archives version 11 at the moment.

In other words version 12 archive format deduplicates data for a single machine, while Acronis Storage Node deduplicates data across multiple archives and the archive format does not really matter there (but we still plan to get new archive format support in all Acronis Backup 12.5 components in future updates).

Thank you.
