how can I create multiple back plans but using the same backup file

Thread needs solution

Hi, I notice that whenever I create a backup plan, I can only specify the location of the backup destination but not the file name or use any existing backup file. Therefore, if for any reason, I need to change a backup plan (e.g. move a VM from one backup plan to another), it will create a new full backup file. Is there any way I can avoid that? Thanks

Aldous

Hi Aldous,

You can define the backup filename in Backup Options->Backup filename - see below screen shot. Note that this option can be defined only when you create a new plan - you cannot change it in existing plan. There is also an option to map the backups into existing archive file ("Select" button on the screen shot). However if you move machines between several existing plans which already include other machines, then you cannot change the archive filename individually for this machine and it will be capturing a new full backup after such migration.

Thank you.
