Installation of Acronis Backup AiO Appliance (CentOS) on vmware ESXi 6.5 -

Thread needs solution

Hello,

the ZIP file including the All-in One Appliance based on CentOS since Acronis Backup 12.5 Update 2 inlcudes an OVF, three VDMK and one ISO file.

On vmware ESXi 6.5 the thick client (vSphere client) can no longer be used and is replaced by the Embedded Host Client.

When trying to import the OVF file, it always leads to an error stating that "A required disk image was missing."

Checking the OVF one can easily find that the 3 VDMKs and also the ISO are referenced there. But the Embedded Client does NOT allow to add ISOs when importing a VM using OVF files.

You can only add OVFs and VDMKs in this process. Is there a solution from Acronis which also works with ESXi 6.5 or can I only go the manual way and create the VM according to the given requirement without using the OVF?

Thanks in advance.

Create empty VM and boot it of ISO, like it says in manual:

https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_12.5/…

Let us know if it works for you or do you get error message like this: "The activity has failed due to a restart of the service." during every single backup like some of us here.
