Need Help

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I created a server acronis backup 12.5.

When I want to install an agent, I have to put the server administrator password.

Is it possible to put the user where the agent will be installed so that when the user wants to make a backup, he connects and selects his files without seeing the other backup?

thank you very much.

Hello Antoine,

Welcome to Acronis forums! The possible options depend on the license type you own. If you assign an Acronis Backup Advanced license, you'll have access to the Advanced functionality and namely the ability to administer user accounts and organization units within the software as well as to create centralized managed vaults.

Account management allows to create administrator accounts for every unit (typically correspond to units or departments of the organization), where each administrator has a view scoped to their area of control. An administrator can view and manage anything on or below their level in the hierarchy.

Acronis Backup Advanced also offers advanced storage options such as Tape devices and Storage Nodes. You might be interested in creating managed locations for storing data, as every Storage Node with respective managed locations can be tied to a particular organizational unit.

Differences between Acronis Backup 12.5 Standard and Acronis Backup 12.5 Advanced are outlined here https://kb.acronis.com/acronis-backup-vs-acronis-true-image

Thank you,

Hello,

thank you for your reply.

I have 50 licenses of Acronis Backup 12.5 Advanced and I would like to create users who can just see and restore backups of their computer.

Thanks for help.

Hello Antoine,

thank you for the details. Yes, with Acronis Backup 12.5 Advanced this is possible to make users backup only their machines.

You need to create 50 separate units for each end-user and add a dedicated administrator to each unit. For example, for machine A you should create a unit "A" and add the "A" user.

You may find the instructions here.

We have already received a bunch of similar requests so we are planning to introduce a feature to simplify this procedure.

Thank you,
