Restoring a backup

Thread needs solution

Hi I am trying to restore a backup .tib file made on another PC (made in Acronis Backup & Recovery 11).

Is there a way to restore this using Acronis Backup 12.5?

Hello Mike,

Sure, archives created with the earlier versions of Acronis Backup are supported for restore with the latest build, see https://kb.acronis.com/content/1689 for the whole compatibility list.

If you are attempting to restore a backup under a bootable media, you' might need to Refresh the archive view to detect the older archives. More information can be found here Bootable Media Does Not Show Backups Created from Previous Version.

If you are restoring a system image to the dissimilar hardware, I'd also recommend reading Acronis Backup: Restoring to Dissimilar Hardware with Universal Restore.

Thank you,

Hi please describe to me how the .tib restore process is started in Backup and Recovery 12.5. I am not using the bootable media

mike_coreit, place the backup.tib file in an accessible network location and then from with ABR12.5 click BACKUPS on the left hand side menu and then click on + Add Location at the top right, then navigate to the location where your backup.tib file is.

The you can click on that location in the centre pane, ABR12.5 should then read the meta data from backup.tib and present you with restore options.

This is how I have done it before.

Thanks, I have been able to do this by choosing Add location, then Local folder. It seems a bit long winded having to do it this way, in the old version we could just right click the .tib in Windows explorer and choose recover
