Free space after erroneous back-up

Hello, 

what is the best practice for clearing space in the cloud storage after a back-up has failed? This can be due to sevral causes.

1. Wrong folder with too much data added to the back-up job by mistake. 
2. Abborted back-ups

When i correct the problems the back-up still refuses to run due to the lack of storage.
I have allready removed recovery points from the cloud enviroment, but the amount of cloud storage used remains the same, thus resulting in the next back-up job failing again.
