ABR 10->11 upgrade: Failed to check the license key. The key is disabled

Thread needs solution

Hi,
We are attempting to use an Advanced Workstation upgrade license (10 to 11)
After assigning the license to machine, the error message states
"Failed to check the license key. The key is disabled"
and backups are not executed.

Reinstallation of software, manual re-registration of the license inc. revoke and re-add the license to the license server didn't help. What else could be the reason?
