ABR10 'ASRM activation' failed

Thread needs solution

I am currently using windows 7 x64 professional on a dell laptop M4500. I made the secure zone no problem, however when I try and activate the ASRM the task immediately fails.

I guessed that it could be that it doesn't like that hidden partition windows puts in, so I:

1) Wiped out the partitions
2) reboot
3) Created a new blank partition
4) reboot
5) Made a secure zone
6) reboot
7) Attempted to activate ASRM

Again immediate failure.

Then I resorted to a partition management software that was linux based and made sure all partition information was wiped out and the disk was blank and repaired the MBR. Then I performed the above 7 steps again.

Again immediate failure.

Anyone have any insight into this?

Hello Kevin!

Welcome to our Forum, it's nice to have you with us! I understand your concern and will be glad to assist you.

Unfortunately due to the lack of sufficient diagnostic information it is hard to identify the exact cause of the problem. Most probably ARSM fails to activate due to protected MBR, but still - it's hard to be sure. So this situation requires investigation.

Please gather the following information:

  1. Activation failure error message
  2. Acronis Info from the problem machine
  3. Procmon output

After that please kindly contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

I'm seeing the same issue on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows XP sp3 32-bit on Dell Optiplex 960s with ABR10 build 10.0.11639.

Thank you
