Acronis 10 with tape drive on Windows Server 2008 R2 ?

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I'm about to try to connect an existing Acronis installation (Acronis 10 Virtual Edition) to a tape drive. Unlikely I had to discover that the Removable Storage Manager is no longer available in Server 2008 R2 and therefore the Acronis Storage Node is unable to work with the tape drive.
Is there any workaround or newer version available which allows to use a tape drive under Windows Server 2008 R2 ?
Thanks in advance for your help

I guess Acronis over Windows 2008 doesnt support Tape.

Its known issue.

As a workaround, you can connect the tape to any other machine, install Storage Node service on that machine and target the backup over that machine

Hi LXCDM LXCDM and Anubhav!

Thank you for your comments! Anubhav, thanks a lot for your assistance!

I just wanted to confirm that Anubhav is absolutely correct. Our software accesses the tapes via RSM, which makes the whole process more reliable and stable. Unfortunately Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7 doesn't have RSM at all.

The workaround, suggested by Anubhav, is the official workaround suggested by Acronis. Don't hesitate to use it, if possible.
