Acronis Backup & Recovery Virtual Edition and Universal Restore Bootable Media ESXi HOST Backup

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

I have an urgent question :

We are running the above software on an ESXi 4.0 Host backing up all 7 Virtual Servers.

Everything works fine since the last Servicepack release.

However, I must admit that I have not been able yet to backup the host himself. So in case of a total failure I will need to setup the ESXi host, reinstall the Virtual Appliance and than recover my Virtual Servers.

I hoped I would be able to make a bootable media allowing me to boot from it a new ESXi maschine restore the host an than the virtual servers in one go.

So I am somehow missing the possiblity to do this in an easy way or it is not possible to do so.

Can anyone help me in this matter or give me some information ?

Regards
Peter

Hello Peter,

Thank you for posting this Question.

Currently, only Acronis vmProtect 7 can backup the ESX(i) Host configuration. Feel free to take a look to our new Acronis vmProtect 8 Beta.

The easiest way to restore your ESX Environment is in this case really to setup a new ESX(i) Host, define Datastores and install the Virtual Appliance of your Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Virtual Edition. Then you can use this to restore your virtual Servers into the new environment.

Using the Acronis Bootable Media does also work, but might consume more time and work, as you have to define previously the virtual machines, before you can boot into it.

Please keep in mind, that you always can contact our Acronis Support for any recovery problem. You will find more Information about in our Customer Handbook.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
