Acronis SQL-Server 2005-Instance with 2012 Instance
Hi,
we have "ABR 11" installed. I saw, that there is an installation of a small version of Micosoft Sql-Server 2005. Now we want to install only for a short period the ms sql-serve 2012. Should we install this parallel or could we choose the option UPDATE from earlier version? In this case, there will be the question, would the acronis software works right for the future?

I understand.
But why is there an existing option "Upgrade from SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2" ? Shure, the the Management-Server of 2012 perhaps won't work with the 2005 Server version, but this does'nt matter, beacause we will not access of acronis-Databases.
The main question is, does the databases of acronis with the format 2005 will still exists in that way the do yust now, or will they be converted or anything else?

I meant Management Server that is an ABR component that uses installed SQL Server 2005. If SQL server is upgraded to 2012 it may stop working.

It's more a SQL Server question - is it possible to revert it back to 2005 and retain all databases as they before.

I see. But I don't want use the Management Server 2005 of ABR. I realize that the version of 2005 doesn't work with components of the 2012. But if there is no garanty that the ABR will still work with the new database versions, so we wouldn't upgrade to 2012.
I think the best way ist to install it parallel for our short period.
That ABR works with 2005 is - in my opinion - a bad solution. There is no more mainstream support from microsoft (ended on 12th of april 2011). I guess it's time to upgrade the ABR to 2008R2 (but thats a different matter)
