Assistance with Adding Clients to AMS

Thread needs solution

Hey everyone,

I've done the search as well as engaging support. So far I've yet to figure out a solution to my issues with ABR11 Advanced.

I've got a server loaded with AMS. Everything appears to be up and running. I've got the following users created on the AMS: Acronis Agent User; AMS User, and ASN User. I've got the following groups created: Acronis Remote Users; Acronis Centralized Admins.

The server is in a workgroup. In the same workgroup are other production servers. They're all on the same network, have the same users installed on each as members of administrators and backup operators group, and all firewalls between them are off. Wish we had a domain, but we can't...it is what it is.

When I try to deploy the agent core and agent, I get failures. The files get copied, but the system bombs out with certain errors. Acronis support indicated I should install the components manually. I did that and the client found the acronis server for it's license and registered successfully in the licensing portal on AMS.

When I went to add the client computer to AMS, i can see the client machine, detect that components are installed, but get a failure on the task which is similar to my previously mentioned deploy failures (See below error message).

I'm not seeing any authentication problems...all users (I've tried three different administrative accounts) are members of administrators group and backup operators.

The only user I have on the client is the Acronis Agent User.

I've got an AMS server that can't deploy or manage clients...and thusly back anything up.

Thanks for looking at this. I gave up in workgroup mode and now have created/configured a domain. The Acronis system installed much better in that environment. I have deployed to a client, but was unsure if I should have installed the deduplication component as part of the remote agent deploy process. There is no documentation that i can see about those options.

Does the client do deduplication and ship it up to the deduped vault on the server...or should the server do the deduplication? I'd like to take advantage of client side dedup, but need more info on it. The only thing mentioned on the Acronis site is that 11BRA can do client side or server side... there is no documentation as far as the agent deploys go and when to engage that option.

and remote deploys still don't work...this is annoying.

Well...it finally worked. I removed the domain acronis service account from backup operators. Remote deploy worked fine. Backup ran fine...go figure. Thanks for the help self! :)

Removing the domain acronis service account from backup operators on the backup server helped me on ABR10, too.
