Backup & Recovery 11 on SBS 2011 not compatible according to Acronis support.

Thread needs solution

I am having an issue. We had setup a new SBS 2011 and I had installed Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 on it. The server has been in production for a little over a month and the backups were running fine. I got the "update available" message so I decided to update the software. While installing the update I get an error during the Management Server component. I tried a 2nd time with the same error so I decided to leave it as is instead of updating.

About a week after that I notice that backups start erroring out with a licensing server not found error. This is kind of strange so I start troubleshooting it. I checked and the licensing server was available. Realizing that I probably did some damage with the failed update I decided to remove Acronis B&R 11 and reinstall with the updated version.

So, I do a complete removal (via the installer) and reboot the server. I try to install again with the same error. At this stage I'm getting worried so I contact support. After about 2 hours of working on the issue, including trying to install the Management Server via the stand-alone MSI, the tech informs me that Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 is NOT compatible with SBS 2011 because it's running SQL 2008 R2 64-bit.

This is obviously news to me since I had it working fine. Now I'm pretty much stuck with this broken piece of software that I can't install and apparently isn't compatible with SBS 2011. Does ANYONE have any direction on what to do? After hanging up with the tech and feeling very frustrated, I decided to completely uninstall SQL2005 Express (which Acronis installs on it's own) and do a fresh install. Still nothing.

Here's the actual error if anyone is interested:
Code: 06442537
Line tag: 0x394351065f8e4bb1
Message: Installation error.

Suberror
Code: 08356345
Line tag: 0x5538f731ab69512
Message:

(FYI - the Message for the Suberror is blank, I didn't forget to copy it)
I'm debating installing another SQL 2008 R2 64-bit instance and trying to use that for the management console, but don't want to go through the entire hassle unless there are no other options available. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

This is really discouraging.
Do you know if it is compatable with SBS 2011 Standard (without SQL)?

I am afraid this is the end of the line for me and Acronis
