BR V10 for windows server and SQL Server 2008 + backup to VM

Hello,
running Windows 2008 server standard SP2 x64, SQL Server 2008, Backup Recovery for windows server V 10.0.11345.
We have the project to virtualize this server under VMWare VSphere 5.

Qu: is this version of BR able to correctly backup and restore the SQL database without any lost datas ?
Qu: could I use the VM converter option to directly create the VM files and load these files into VSphere ?

Is this method could replace the Microsoft method which consist of retrograde the AD controler (this windows 2008 server is also the domain controler), uninstall SQL server, use the VMWare converter tool to create a P to V machine, re-install SQL server on the VM ?
For the AD, make a dcpromo on the VM or create another VM which would be the AD controler only.
