Can image be 20% of actual size?
Okay-
I purchased tons of Acronis Products today and installed them on several of my servers. I did my first backups today and got an amazingly unbelievable result. My SQL server, which has 280GB of data on it created an image only 60GB in size. I did not do the image sector by sector (I am running it a second time now Sector by Sector to test the results). I do not have deduplication installed.
What could I be doing wrong...this obviously isn't a correct image. I am concerned. I wanted to be able to rely on Acronis as my backup solution and with an initial result like this I am a bit worried.
Any insight as to what I am doing wrong would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Michael

If in doubt, you can mount the backup in readonly mode and check if database files are there and can be opened (or copied somewhere). If you database files compress well, 20% is possible.

I worked with tech support on this issue and never really felt comfortable with the results. They basically remoted into my machine and ran some tests and told me that the backup size was correct.
I would love to test a restore of this to see if infact it is working correctly. I will probably try to restore to dissimilar hardware this weekend and see if that resolves my issues.
Thank you both for your input and help.
