Clone backup...confusion...
Hi...
I used Backup & Restore to clone a bootable backup hdrive. Because of my lack of computer understanding, I came up with a problem...maybe doing the clone thru USB connection.
I made this clone on computer bootup/DOS...it was successful.
I went to take a look at the results - *:system & *:HP (NTFS) and *:factory_image.
That doesn't seem right to me. I should have *:system, C:HP (NTFS) and D:factory_image.
I just don't think this backup clone is bootable. I'm guessing...haven't tried it out as test yet.
I made dozens of backup clones in my old computer with XP home edition. Everyone worked perfectly. Not one was at fault. Perfect for boot with.
But I made them connecting the internal hdrive to the slave connection in the old computer.
1. Maybe I should have did an internal slave connection...and not the USB connection...would that be right?
2. Maybe should have made the clone while in Win 7...without using bootup/DOS method...correct?
I really don't know much about troubleshooting these computer problems making Images and Clones using Acronis Backup & Restore 2010. I just don't think the clone I just made is created to boot.
I have know idea of what "active" is meant for. MBR change might do? etc etc to make it bootable after the clone has already been made. I just doubt that it could after it was made...i think ther is a certain space location for that purpose...I really don't know such things.
I'd really appreciate some help. I really don't understand any of this to troubleshoot anything. I just understand that I make the clone as system drive backup as instructed and should be a bootable system clone without having to make any adjustments whatsoever...plug in and play...
I hope there is some help with this bootable clone making.
With much appreciation and sincerely...ron...sorry, I have a tendency to use use to many words...don't hesitate to ask me to clarify if needs be...with thinks...
I'm using a HP Pavilion 64 bit...750GB hdrive.
