disk or volumes are not viewable when creating a backup job

Thread needs solution

I am trying to setup a new backup job using Acronis Backup and Recovery in Linux.  However when i try to select a disk or volume they do not appear in the list. Basically they are not viewable. I am able to select files if I choose that option of backup instead.

Can you help. Am i missing something that is causing the list to not be viewable

Thanks Marianne

Hello Marianne and Robert,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Marianne,

Please recompile the SnapAPI module. I am sending a link to you via PMs. If the issue persists, please obtain  Linux System Report and attach to your next post.

Robert,

I am sending a link to you too. Please run the .msi file, wait for the process to be completed and reboot the computer. See if the issue remains. If this doesn't help, please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach to your post.

This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Thank you.

I keep receiving this error when running a build:

dkms build -m snapapi26 -v 0.7.47 -k 2.6.18-92.el5 --config /boot/config-2.6.18-92.el5 --arch x86_64 --kernelsourcedir /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.el5/build

Error! Your kernel source for kernel 2.6.18-92.el5 cannot be found at
/lib/modules/2.6.18-92.el5/build or /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.el5/source.
You can use the --kernelsourcedir option to tell DKMS where it's located.

I tried it for all the kernels listed and still recieve the same error message

rpm -qa | grep kernel
kernel-2.6.18-128.1.6.el5
kernel-headers-2.6.18-164.el5
kernel-devel-2.6.18-164.el5
kernel-2.6.18-92.el5

Hello Marianne,

Thank your for your response.

You don't have kernel-devel for _running kernel_:

Your kernel source for kernel 2.6.18-92.el5 cannot be found

Please use this article to compile the module.

Thank you.

I have the same issue. The OS is Red Hat 4. I believe the snapapi is installed correctly
root@tstdb1 - /root
$ rpm -qa|grep snapapi
snapapi26_modules-0.7.46-1

However the disk/volumn has nothing to select from.

Hello Ken,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

We have several articles in our Knowledge base on how to compile the SnapAPI module in Linux (key words: SnapAPI, Linux). Please make sure that you have done everything correctly.

If the issue remains, please obtain Linux system report and create an e-mail request or contact Live chat service available on this page, under Contact us click on the Start here button and follow the step-by-step guide.

Thank you.

I am having this same issue also except under Win 7. Strange thing is that disks were previously displayed.

Edit:

Turns out that this problem was caused by installing Disc Director after installing B&R. This knowledge base article pointed me in the right direction: http://kb.acronis.com/content/2905.

Hello Stephen,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum. I will definitely take care of this issue for you.

If I am not mistaken, you are running ABR11 Advanced Workstation. Usually if disks are not detected by our software it means that there is a malfunction of Acronis low-level drivers responsible for disk operations or there is a third-party program which is blocking our software's access to them.

I will follow-up with a private message to send you a download link for the latest drivers update and if it does not help I will provide you with additional tips for collecting logs in order to contact our Support team for immediate assistance.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I have the same problem. When i installed it work ok. Then when i try to create a new job it doesn't find the disks/volumes. what is wrong? system windows 2003 sp2.

Hello John,

if you have not the latest build of Acronis Backup and Recovery 11.5 (37975) please download it under your account and install in order to make sure that you have the latest version of Acronis SnapAPI drivers.

If you have already installed the latest build, please try to start the repair installation.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.
