Failed to check the license key. The key is disabled
I did two backups a month ago. Today I get the above message (jpg attached).
What causes this error and how can I correct it? I am on 10.0.11133 build. pm Winxp 64 sp2.
The license is shown as 1 available 0 used.
Also found this in the log:

Reinstall (repair?) of the agent should help. If it were newer build, 'change license' dialog could have helped.

I had this problem and tech support had to issue me with a new licence key.

I just upgraded to B&R10 advanced build 11345 with a licence server on a local machine. I used the software once without issue but today I have experienced a similar error. The created backup schedules do not run and when going into edit the schedule the "Source" line says
"Failed to check the license key. The key is disabled"
Do I need to ask for a new licence key?

Try a complete and full uninstall and reinstall. Only install the ABR components you really need and not everything.

That seems to have fixed the issue. However, previously I did an upgrade using the full license file download from my login page, which contained only the files I use/needed. (688MB). This time I did a web install after a complete uninstall. The only difference was the clean install, which seemed to work better in this case. It took at least 5 hours to complete, but the license server seems to be communicating okay now.

I personally think the abr workstation with it's license server is over kill and adds unnecessary complexity especially if you only need single hardware backup/restore. To bad they don't offer a "stand-alone" option when you install.

You can buy the standalone version without this license server thing.
I just did that (4 workstations and 1 server) and are happy with it. You get a key for each license, the key is stored locally in the software. The boot CD includes the key also.
No problems with license server anymore...

I think I would rather trade my license in for one. Won't want give acronis more money for a single license.

Hi, I had this same problem after moving a client's SBS2008 to a different site, and called one of our local Acronis resellers to check. The guy was very helpful and talked me through resolving it without a reinstall. Hope this helps someone :)
If I went into the program and connected to the machine, I could see my license when I browse to Tools > Manage Licenses - it showed up both as "available" and "used" when selecting from the view command. I went into the properties of this license, to the view that has fields for product name, host name, host address etc and could see that the last 2 fields said: Acquired - 13/07/2010 and Renew date - 07/09/2011 (the renew date being the exact date that these errors started in the log).
All I had to do was select the license and click "Revoke license" - which removed the license from the installation. Then, going back into the main screen, select Help > Change License. Click the link to "Get license from license server" and type the IP address of the server in the field provided and click "Display editions". If all is correct, the license details should pop up with a radio button and check box to select it. Once you press OK this should go back and re-activate the license and clear up the errors.
You may or may not need to restart the program and/or services for this to work again.
