Thread needs solution

Some workstations i can run a backup perfect and at some workstations every backup fails, de loggen of de failed backup;

To resolve the issue please cleanup your Windows Temp folders. Also please check if there is enough free space on the source partition. After that see if the issue remains. If the issue still persists, please obtain the log file of the failed operation and attach to your next response.

- Connect Management Console to the Agent; Log;
- Choose the log entry that contains errors;
- Click on the diskette icon Save all to file;
- Specify the location you want to save the file to;
- Attach the log file to your next post.

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.
There is not enough space in your Windows Temp folder. Acronis True Image needs this folder to save the temporary snapshot file when creating a backup.
1. Clean up your Windows Temp folder:
 
\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Local Settings\Temp\ (or Start -> Run -> %TEMP%)
 
2. Try running the backup again.
 
If the issue remains, please check that there is enough free space on your hard drive.  Acronis software needs some free space to save the temporary snapshot file when creating a backup.
 
If you don’t have enough free space on your system partition, you can recreate the temp file on another partition, the value is variable (right-click on My computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment variables -> Specify another location for the temp folders).  
 
Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Dear, I am evaluating the Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 and I am running into problems when I want to backup a single hard disk of a new dell E6500 notebook with XPPo on it to an external harddrive. When I start the backup procedure, it seems to start running, but after 10 seconds, it indicates that the backup failed. The following details in the log appear:

So the same problem as indicated in the messages above. I already tried to clean the TEMP file, but there is nothing in it. I have 60 GB of Free space on the hard disk, so that can't be the problem neither. Do you have any idea how to solve this. As I am using a trial version, my trial period is almost ended and I really want to make sure that I can backup and restore images with this software in a decent way.

Since the issue is not with the Temp folder, then I can assume that there are some difficluties with snapshot creation. It is saved by default to the Temp folder and may take plenty of space. It's difficult to say for sure without logs and Acronis Info, but I assume it somehow fail to save the snapshot to that particular folder.

In order to localize the issue I would like to ask you to do the following: 

  1. Change the size of snapshot created and the target folder for it. You can find detail explanation and instructions here.
  2. Please test the full backup and the data backup creation to see whether the issue still persists (and if it does, whether it is present in both types of the backup).
  3. Should the issue be present only in Full backup creation, please, update the SnapAPI to the latest version and test, whether it solves the problem. (Please, kindly pay attention to the fact that this SnapAPI version suits ONLY Acronis Backup and Recovery Corporate product line, Acronis True Image will not work with it and may get corrupted after its installation).
  4. Should the issue be present after the SnapAPI update/in both data and disk backups, we will need to take a look at the logs and state of the product. Please gather the following information:
    - Acronis Info
    - Exact sequence of steps performed before you encountered this issue

After that submit a support request with this data attached, and let me know the case number so that I could make sure it is handled in a proper way. (Case number can be sent via PM in order to avoid publicizing your sensitive information).

HiYana, I reinstalled the whole program, and when i want to startup the application, I get the following error.

Dear, In order to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the notebook, I have taken a new notebook with a clean image on it. Did the same installation procedure and installed BackupAndRecovery with success. I can open the manager, and I create a fresh WinPE cd which also is created succesfully. I boot from the newly created WinPE, acronis starts and I select the hard drive of the notebook to be backed up on an external USB hard disk. I start the full backup immediately after pressin ok, and 10 seconds later, I get the same message again.

- An invalid index has been specified. This error message most likely has to do with corrupt WMI. I would suggest to use this article from our Knowledge Base to determine the cause of this error and there are instructions in that article to resolve this issue.

- Failed to determine temporary file name. Error code: 267. This error is caused by and issue in the product. There is no path for the temporary directory for snapshot creation in the acronis.inf file. Please use the following article to resolve it.
