IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ***STOP ERROR**
Blue screen stop error only occurs when I plug in a HP PhotoSmart C3180 USB printer into a Vista Business Dell computer with Acronis Backup and Recovery ver 10 installed. Printer worked fine before B & R install. Cannot boot up at all, not even in Safe Mode, whilst printer is connected. When printer is disconnected, boot up is normal. Have tried uninstalling and re-installaing B & R software, but still the same result. Any help would be appreciated.

I am experiencing the same stop error in Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 RC1 using Backup and Recovery Workstation 10. It occurs just after log in (of before if I wait a while before logging in). A key symptom seems to be that the mouse stop responding once I get to the login screen. The mouse and keyboard go though a single USB connector.
To the best of my ability I have tracked this down to a recent windows update. On the windows 7 installation (same machine as Windows XP SP3) I get this error if I install B&R 10 and it goes away if I restore to the point before B&R10 was installed.
The reason I think that this problem was triggerd by a recent windows update is that B&R 10 was working fine, a couple of weeks ago (its taken me two weeks to get to this point) as I have the scheduled nightly backups to prove it.
I am fortunate that the MB I use in my Freenas server is identical to my main PC (Gigabyte P35 DS3R) so I have been able to swap mother boards, processors, memory and powersupplies to confirm that it not a hardware related fault. I even bought a new hard disk thinking that it was a disk error (but it isn't).
I have tried serveral installs of Windows 7 and the stop error now occurs every time I install B&R 10. I think this is because there are updates downloaded during the installation process and it is these (which relate to filtering of HID input?) that seem to be causing the problem.

As stated elsewhere on this forum, unplugging the card reader stopped the BSOD at boot.

I'm using latest build 11105.
However, I get

Any ideas?

I have followed the advice above and elsewhere. Windows Xp SP3 now boots and works as expected. The dual boot installation of Windows 7 RC1 aso boot, howevr, B&R 10 cannot backup because it cannot find any drives.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling B&R 10 but get the same result.

Hi, I'm having the same stop error I've unplugged the card reader and indeed the BSOD stopped popping up randomly on my laptop, however, it seems like it now happens each time I restart my PC, it takes several minutes and then it crashes again (but only after restart), if I work in safe mode then there's no problem. So if this isn't the card reader now, what could it be? Is it a problematic or outdated driver (as explained in this post: irql_not_less_or_equal) or does it have to do with something else? please help as it drives me nuts!
Thanks,
Marvin.

Hi Anton,
Thank you very much for your quick reply - I appreciate it.
What I did is going back to a windows restore point before this entire issue started and so far (cross fingers :) everything seems to be working fine. I've restarted my PC several times and so far I see no problem. I'll wait a day or two and see that it doesn't come back again...
Again, thanks for your kind support,
Marvin.
