Let;s Get Backup and Recovey Right, Please

Thread needs solution

I've been at this trade since 1966, at both ends. So understand I'm aware of what I say.

Acronis is good, to a point. But that point is set way too low. Here is a partial list of needed features or additional programs.

Do backups of all files EXCEPT *.tib, *.log, *.tmp, *.bak, *.iso, and other select files by default

Be able to search and read ANY *.tib file from present version back

Provide a search tool for *.tib files that locates all such files and then does the following:

Allows you to collectively search for specific Partitions, folders or files in them, including paths, wild cards, and collective terms

Determines if these are retrievable or not

Makes note of each in terms of existing now, matched now, older or newer to add to report

Gets vital data related to each sought and
returns that as data for use by recovery tool

OPTIONS: Replace old .tib files with newer version.
Add all sought partitions folders, files to new *,tib if they meet certain criteria such as newest, oldest, before, after, between dates, and just after or just before the one currently used,

Tje user is then given access to what was found through a tool, and can then elect to restore or not.

Now these actions are very demanding and can cut PC speed and usability down significantly, so there has to be pause and resume modes, indications of progress, even estimates as to time remaining. But you consider all the above and what kind of human effort would be needed to come even close to doing this, and what other choice is there? if you don't. then you will loose your spot near the top.

And don't play stupid either. How about all the people that already have TI and may only recognize the need for something like this once in a great while, maybe never. It can be an add-on for them at low price, maybe with limited time of use or something,

As an add-on, it would follow its own development curve and cycle. because if you try to cram it all together as one, that is overkill and you know it. 'Future versions can get get brought together, but let's get something out there to close the gap first

Dear Donald,

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here!

I would like to thank you for your valuable suggestions: I've just forwarded your notes to the Management team via Customer Listening System and they were taken under consideration.

I also wanted to note that partially your suggestions were already release: browsing, mounting, restoring, etc. of any backup archive of any version is already possible - this compatibility is introduced in the latest version of Acronis Backup and Recovery line of products. You can actually find the backup compatibility table here.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
