Method to clean and restore c drive.

I like to keep my total c drive up to date. I back it up often and if I have a problem with any windows stuff I simply restore. I noticed that my backup is about 30 gig yet the c drive shows about 40 gigs. I wonder why?
If I wanted to delete my C drive and restore how would I do it? If the rescue disk looks for acronis and there is no application what would happen? Should I install Acronis on d drive so it would be available?

1. Because of compression. 2 Rescue disk is self-contained and will restore the backup onto an empty disk.

So I could zap my c drive.

Rescue disk in cd drive.

Find where my backup is and simply restore?

Do not erase it before you make sure the rescue disk can see the internal drive ( try to back up and see if it appears as a possible source) and the backup location is visible too.
