Is this possible?
Hi,
Basically I have a number of computers in a network. Most of which are backed up already.
However I want to try backup a standalone machine (ie not on network), and use this image to backup other machines. Once the standalone image is on the machine, should it not just be a matter of adding it to the network? All the machines are similar makes/models.
Maybe this is a job for Universal Restore? Which is fine if I need to purchase this instead.
However if this is not possible, could somebody explain why?
Thanks,

Hi Anton,
Thanks for the reply,
The machines are all of a similar make, model and motherboard. Only thing that differs is the hard drives, the current setup in the machines is a 40GB Seagate HD, and the new one which I will be (hopefully) restoring the image to is a 250GB Seagate HD, would this make a difference?
Today I have created an image of a fresh 250GB HD with some programs installed, and tried to restore this to another machine, all similar details as above, and I get an error message on startup

Client Mac ADD XX XX XX XX XX XX GUID XXXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
PXE-E53 No Boot Filename Recieved
PXE-M0F Exiting BootManage PXE-ROM
Operating System Not Found

However if I press CTRL+ALT+DEL, the machione reboots fine and seems to work.
What would cause this?
Thanks in advance

Hello Damian,
Thank you for replying.
There is no difference when you are using a larger hard drive, provided the hard drive controller is the same. Otherwise, as I mentioned in my previous post, Acronis Universal Restore is required to make your operating system bootable. Just in case, there is an option to resize the disk when you are restoring from a smaller hard drive to a bigger one. Please check this article for additional information.
Back to the issue itself, it is very likely that the BIOS of the new machine is set to boot from the network. Can you please check that this is the case and get back to me?
Let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
