Recovering a .tib to Redhat Enterprise Virtual guest

Thread needs solution

When I recover to a new VM, and select Redhat KVM as the type, ABR builds a MachineName..raw file. I've been unable to determine how to convert this to a .iso that redhat recognizes. Anybody know what the secret is?

Hello Brian,

Thank you for your question.

Have you seen the user guide (online help) for this issue? The relevant paragraph says this:

You can move the files of the Kernel-based Virtual Machine to a machine running Linux; from there, you can run this virtual machine by using the Virtual Machine Manager program.

The resulting machine always has SCSI disk interface and basic MBR volumes. If the machine uses a custom boot loader, you might need to configure the loader to point to the new devices and reactivate it. Configuring GRUB is described in "How to reactivate GRUB and change its configuration".

Find more information in this article from our Knowledge Base (it's from Version 10, but should fit also for Version 11).
