Saving increments then incorporating them

Thread needs solution

ABR 11

Client has a full server backup including boot disk. They want to make an incremental backup every night and keep these changes separated from the full backup. They always want seven days' incremental backups saved, in order to go back to any version of a file within those seven days.

On a rolling 7-day basis, they want the oldest incremental backup incorporated into the full backup then have it disappear. So on any given day, they would have a full backup from 7 days ago and six or seven incrementals available.

Doable with ABR 11? If so, how the heck do I set this up?

Use simple scheme with incremental type, set up retention rules - keep 7 days of backups, consolidate the backups that are older. This may take a considerable amount of time, about as long as the creation of the full.
Not sure about the " keep these changes separated from the full backup. " part - it's impossible to place incrementals in the vault other that the one with the full.

Thanks. By "keep the changes separated from the backup" I just mean that they want to be able to access all 7 versions of the files, if they changed every day. Is each incremental backup stored in a separate file that is accessible with the client software?
