Hello Steven!

Welcome to our Forum, it's nice to have you with us! I understand the scenario and will be glad to inform you about the options we have for this case.

Acronis products can back up Exchange and SQL in two ways: separate from OS, brick-level backup and full backup with the entire system (this will require freesing the DB services for 2-3 seconds during the snapshot creation).

Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Small Business Server Edition can bacup the database with the entire system only. You will need to enable VSS support in the Backup options (see more details in the User's Guide, 3.4.1.7 Volume Shadow Copy Service, p. 97), which will suspend and start the DB services before and after the Snapshot creation. Otherwise the database may become corrupted upon recovery.

Should you need to backup the DB separately, you will need Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange SBS Edition (for Exchange) and Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server (for SQL) products. The trial versions can be found here as well as the User's Guides here.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Hi,

Can emails be retieved individually or does a full restore need to take place.

Also if I restore the operating system from a backup say a week old can I then retieve emails from another backup say a day old?

Hello Steven!

Thank you for your question!

Unfortunately restoring the individual e-mails requires brick-level backup, which is not provided by the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Small Business Server Edition. But if you use Exchange or SQL editions, both scenarios will be absolutely achieveable.

Let me know in case you have any additional questions or concerns.

Thank you!
