Slow Recovery

Thread needs solution

I have several issues to discuss.

I use Easy Gig II to create images of harddrives and prepare bootable replacement drives. To date no problems; the process has worked effortlessly for me. Today I have lots of trouble, indeed total failure, viz:

On my T60 laptop using the Trackpoint device, I lost control at the second screen (where you choose what you want to do--create an Image, Restore, Clone, etc) At this point the Trackpoint ceased to function so I was unable to make a choice and was forced to hot reboot. On second attempt the Trackpoint device worked for first, second and all subsequent screens. I then created my image.

Once I created the image I attempted to burn it (43 GB) onto an SSD. Setting the process up took far longer than usual and failed to complete the early screens--it stopped at "Preparing" the first time so I once again hot rebooted. In this cycle Easy Gig II proceeded to the screen where it launches into the project with bars showing progress, etc. After 2 hours (on a dual core 3 GHz machine) I returned to see a progress screen showing 6 hours to go. This changed to "unable to copy Data XX". I instructed it to Ignore, and saw many repeats of this error message until I gave up, after more than 4 hours of effort with this smallish drive.

What's the problem?
