I am running AB&R v10.0.13544 on a Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit laptop. I created a simple job to backup the laptop and then validate the backup when complete. The backup completes successfully but the validation fails with the following message...

Task 'Validation' failed: 'Invalid archive URI.

The message appears only a few seconds after the validation job starts. I wasn't able to locate anything in the knowledge base. Any ideas what might be happening?

Yep, you're dead on.  I have my job configured to both name the archive in "echo format" and set to validate the "latest backup."  Trying both of your solutions in the aforementioned thread worked...

  • If I changed the validation to validate the entire archive, the validate was successful.
  • If I changed the archive naming to something other than "echo format," the validate was successful.

Unfortunately, my issue is that I need to have both of these options set to where I have them.  I assume I'm outta luck with AB&R 10.

Do you know happen to know if the issue is fixed in AB&R 11?

I didn't run a comprehensive testing, but at least if you don't use [DATE] tag in archive name ABR11 rusns it with vaildation of 'the last backup only' fine.

I figured out an alternative. I want to do four weekly backups - one week apart - and then repeat. I just created four separate vaults and set each job to validate the entire archive.
