Unable to stop multiple tasks

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I've got the following problem with Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 (build 10.0.11639).

I've got some tasks that aren't responding and I would like to stop these tasks. Unfortunately I'm unable to stop these tasks.

I've restarted the machine several time (both the server and the client), restarted the services several times and tried the "solutions" from these topics:

http://forum.acronis.com/forum/17461
http://kb.acronis.com/content/1518

I'm still not able to stop the tasks. Who can help me out?

I've attached an screen shot of these tasks.

Hope to hear from you guys.

Greetings,

Martin

Hello Martin!

Thank you for finding time to join our Forum, and let us know about the issue. I understand your concern, and will surely be glad to help you.

In order to stop the stalled task we advise to end the process that's running it. Please start the Task Manager -> Processes tab and right-click Schedul2.exe -> End process tree. This should stop all tasks running.

Please also note that the build you're using is an outdated one, and we strongly recommend you to update the software. I'd also advise you to remove the current version from the machines before installing the latest build.

I would highly appreciate if you could kindly keep me posted regarding the issue state, and let us or support directly know in case you face any difficulties, we'll be glad to help you.

Thank you!

Yana,

Thank you for the reply. I've upgraded every machine using Acronis. I'm now using Acronis build 10.0.127708

Unfortunately I'm still experiencing task problems (see screen shot).

The task that was running for months suddenly disappeared and is finally idle! :) The other two tasks are still there. Do you have an idea what I can to resolve this?

Regards,

Martin

Hello Martin,

Thank you very much for your update.

It's very likely that task was scheduled on a remote machine. In order to get rid of it, please check this article and unregister the missing task on that computer.

Just in case, you can always contact our Support team via chat and get this issue resolved via a remote session.

Please let me know if you need additional help.

Thank you.

Anton,

The tasks were scheduled on the central machine. I've tried to stop them on both the central machine as on the local machine.

The local machine tells me the task is stopped. The central machine doesn't know this and is unable to synchronize with the client. (the Full backup job)

The Backup archive deletion job is even stranger. The central Acronis host is the Storage node as well. I've given the command to remove an archive. The archive was deleted as ordered but the task is still running at 0%

The system does what I want so I don't have an functional problem... But the inconsistency between the task manager and the reality is something I would really like to fix.

This issue doesn't effect our backup functionality and therefore isn't threatening. It is however very annoying that the system seems to be malfunctioning (but is working great). Is there a way to get these tasks out of the list on the server? It doesn't have anything to do with the clients.

Regards, Martin

Hello Martin,

Thank you for keeping us posted. I understand how inconvenient the situation seem, and will be glad to shed the light to the situation.

You can safely ignore the central Acronis host reporting that the task is running: it sometimes happens when SQL haven't processed the update of the task sate yet. The "running" state will disappear once the SQL updates the state of the Scheduler, or you can force the update by rebooting AMS.

Please let us know whether the issue remains after reboot, or you have any questions, will gladly help you!

Thank you!

Yana,

I've rebooted again, but no solution. Perhaps I'd just have to wait for the new version of B&R 2011.

I've tried all possible solutions (without reinstalling everything, but that's not an option since our backups must keep running).

Perhaps someone has an radical idea I haven't tried yet?
