Using Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Exactly what drivers do I need for Universal Restore to work?

I'm guessing if I just installed this new laptop from scratch (Windows 2000) it'd find most of the drivers it needed from the Windows CD.

So when I do a restore with Universal Restore I added the CD drive as one of the folders for UR to search. Or is there more to it than that?

I've found the PCI devices that its complaining about but cant find any drivers.

Hello Paul,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Before restoring the backup of your machine to a machine with dissimilar hardware, please make sure you have drivers for the hard disk drive controller or chipset drivers. These drivers are critical for booting the operating system.

You can download the drivers for your motherboard on the Vendor's web-site. Please note, if you downloaded the drivers in *.exe, *.cab, *.zip format, you should extract them first.

The driver files should have *.inf, *.sys or *.oem extension.

You can place the driver files to a floppy drive, CD disk, network share, etc.

Please see the article Transferring Windows to dissimilar hardware for more information.

Thank you.
