Windows serial and Acronis

Thread needs solution

Hello.

Our company is using the Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 to both campture images, and deploy images to new computers.

My question is if Acronis keeps the Windows serial that is on the computer before we deploy the image to it, or does the Windows serial follow the image? If the latter is the case, we obviously will have to change the Windows serial after the image is deployed to the computer (so that we don't have 100 PCs with the same Windows serial).

Kind regards,

I far is I know Aronis is a backup and restore software now Microsoft license manager. The serial will probably fallow the image, and when deploying to different PCs it is very likely that windows will ask you to activate the newly deployed windows.

There are probably several ways to avoid this:

-Use windows multi license package (one serial for all installations, installation of a serial not limited to single computer like oem, cheaper then a box)

-create image on Windows preinstalation (vista and above - install Windows on a single PC, press Ctrl-Shift-F3 when installation asks for username - installation will enter audit mode - there you should be able to install additional software, install drivers, install Acronis and create the image), after deploying image to another pc, exit audit mode - then you will be allowed to enter computers Windows serial.

I understand that the image of a whole hard drive does contain the serial numbers for the discs they were originally mirrored from. How about deploying that one disc image to the multiple laptops/computers, then running the "update Windows serial number" on each machine when the restore/deployment is finished?
