Acronis appliance reboots itself all the time.
I have vmProtect 8 appliance and it had 3 mounted local drives for backup D:\, E:\ and F:\
I dismounted D:\ and E:\ and restarted appliance. Now it boots itself up then shows console screen with IP info and after several seconds restarts itself. I deleted all drives E:\ and D:\ from appliance configuration and left only the only one drive but it keeps rebooting itself. I removed the last drive from appliance configuration and but it keeps rebooting itself. How to fix this vmProtect 8 appliance ?

Actually my configuration was:
SCSI 0:0 = HardDisk_1.vmdk (1GB)
SCSI 1:0 = HardDisk_2.vmdk (2GB)
SCSI 2:0 = D:\
SCSI 3:0 = E:\
SCSI 4:0 = F:\
First I just unmount drives D:\ and E:\ from appliance console (clicked on Unmount) and restarted appliance. After first restart it started rebooting itself. I powered it off and deleted drives D:\ and E:\ from appliance configuration. But this did not help again. I am sure I deleted D: and E: drives. Then I deleted F: from configuration and this did not help again. I don't have this appliance anymore but I am absolutely sure it had only 2 drives (1 Gb and 2 Gb). I gave up, deleted broken appliance, installed a new one and connected my drive F:\ to it. But I had to recreate all my backup jobs again.

Hi,
It's hard to say definitely what was the root cause of the constant reboot without having appliance by hand unfortunately (it might've been wrong devices mounting on reboot or internal disks fill up with logs or something else) ;(
I'd started troubleshooting as follows:
When booting the appliance it is possible to force it boot into # shell: press ESC when you get the boot menu, then press "e" to edit the boot string, remove the 'quiet' word from it and continue booting via "b" key. After that it would be possible to check the /var/lib/Acronis/vmProtect/Logs/mms.log which can be used for analysis.
Thank you.

Hello Vasily,
I started having tha same issue on the same version of Acronis VM8. I tried to troubleshot the problem as you suggested in you last post (booting w/out the quiet option). But the problem is that under the /var directory, I have only the /lock directory. NOthing else.
What could have happened?
Can you give some suggestion on how to move over?
Thank You,

Hi Marco,
There could be some corruption of the appliance virtual disks so that they do not mount properly - it makes sense to contact our support team for assistance. Likely we'll ask you for sending us the broken appliance (export it to .ovf template and upload to our FTP) in order to check what could be wrong with it. Another thing which might happen is improper detach of locally attached storage from the appliance (if you attached it before).
Thank you.
