Another VMprotect Licensing Question

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

i have just purchased a Single CPU License of VM Protect. I am working with a vSphere 5 Datacenter consisting of 12 Hosts in Total (12 Sockets, 4 Cores per Socket)

I try to backup a VM on a single ESXi 5 Host (Not a member of a Cluster). I entered the license in the web console but can not attach this license to this specific Host. When i go to License Configuration it tells me 1 license available and 0 used. Everytime i try to make a Backup i get "not enough licenses available".

Now, maybe i completely missunderstood the licensing. Does 1 CPU refer to 1 Core or one Socket?

Thanks for anyones Help

Pretty sure this means one physical CPU/Socket. We have two vSphere servers, each with 2 physical CPUs. Our vmProtect license is for four sockets.

Hi Miles,

this is what i have assumed as well. I have even tried to register only a single Host, without vCenter, i get the same message. Its a Dell R310 with Single Socket Quad Core HT enabled. Allways not enough Licenses available.

I keep trying

Thanks anyway,
Harry

It should be one socket. That would be the only logical sense. Have you made this to work already?
